One of a series of short interactive multimedia courses on component identification. These two short interactive multimedia courses on switches and relays are for electronic assembly operators and others, who deal with electronic components in their work. You can "mix and match" courses to create a custom curriculum to meet your training needs. Courses are available for individual or company purchase.

Objectives For Switches & Relays 1 - Introduction:

Participants successfully completing the program will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of switches and relays
  • Identify schematic symbols and board markings
  • Explain the terms open, closed, make, break, pole, way, throw
  • Explain two characteristics used to rate switches
  • Describe power switching and signal switching
  • Explain AC and DC ratings

Objectives For Switches & Relays 2 - Switch Types:

Participants successfully completing the program will be able to:

  • Describe the differences between push-button, momentary contact, and toggle switches
  • Identify rocker, slide, rotary, DIP, reed, and microswitches
  • Match a switch or relay to a bill of materials
  • Describe the construction and operation of a relay
